Other signs you might be closer than you think
Some signs aren’t practical at all.
They’re quieter than that — emotional, energetic, the kind of things you only notice when you stop rushing long enough to pay attention. They tend to show up for people who are sitting in that early idea stage, even if they haven’t said anything out loud yet.
Sometimes that's the hardest part, saying it out loud, it suddenly makes it real. Plus, who do you shout it out too? friends, work colleagues, your partner, family... or your friendly business consultant, that's me btw.
The emotional side of things
There’s often a restlessness that doesn’t feel like stress — more like a gentle tug that something in life wants to shift. Work starts to feel a little flat, or a little out of step with who you’re becoming. (it's usually this one!) Ideas that were easy to ignore suddenly feel harder to push aside. There’s a pull toward creating, helping, contributing in a way that feels more like you, who you are now. And somewhere in the background, there’s a picture forming of a different pace, a different rhythm, a different way of working, you suddenly feel energised.

These feelings don’t tend to appear for no reason. They’re usually pointing somewhere, and that somewhere is setting up your own business.
The practical things happening quietly in the background
Often, the early groundwork is already there long before anyone calls it a business. People ask for help or advice without you ever offering. The same problem gets solved for different people, almost on autopilot. Research happens late at night or in the odd spare moment — not because anyone asked, but because curiosity took over. Opportunities or improvements in your space start standing out more clearly.
And without realising it, parts of the work are already happening… just without the structure or the price tag.
It’s surprising how much is already in motion before someone decides to take it seriously.
The confidence that’s been building quietly
There’s a steadiness that wasn’t there a few years ago. Decisions come a little easier.
Self‑trust shows up in small ways — not loudly, but reliably. Life has already thrown harder things your way, and you handled them. And there’s a growing sense of what doesn’t fit anymore, which is often just as important as knowing what does.
Readiness isn’t about certainty.

It’s about recognising that you’re capable of taking a step, even without the whole plan mapped out.
A gentle closing thought
There’s no need for a perfect plan.
No need for a logo or a website or a five‑year strategy. Just that feeling that something in you is ready for something new.
If any of this feels familiar, chances are you’re closer than you think. And if you ever want to talk it through — slowly, without pressure — I’m here.
